It happens every year – the final newsletter of the season,
hoping for a great summer and looking forward to next year and
another season of great snowmobiling!
Important Notice!!! The June 12th meeting will be held at the
Episcopal Church (Church of the Good Shepherd) on Main Street in
Rangeley. Dinner will be potluck. Please bring a dish to share with
others (casserole, etc.) Deserts and beverages will be provided.
As usual, social hour will be at 5:30, dinner at 6:30 and the meeting
will follow.
Election of Officers will be held at the June meeting.
Nominations were taken at the May meeting and they were as follows:
President: Clark Allen
Vice President: Don Dumont
Secretary/Treasurer: Gail Gavigan
Two Board Member terms expire in June. They are Vince
Banaitis and Marshall Swain, Jr.
Nominations to the Board of Directors were as follows:
Vince Banaitis, Bob Breen, Mark Bridges and Mike Koob.
For the election to be legal, we need 15 voting members in
attendance. Please plan to attend if you are in the area.
You are all probably aware that the Rangeley Lakes Snowmobile
Club did not receive the trophy for the largest club in the State this
year. The trophy went to the Arnold Trail Snowmobile Club
(Stratton/Eustis). Even with the largest number of members (408) than
we have had for the past six years, they had 442 members. Something
to work for next year.......
Thanks to Oquossoc Marine and Polaris, we will be raffling
off another Polaris 550 Classic snowmobile this year. Last year the
raffle profited the club over $6,000. The sled is in stock and is
being put together so that we can set up during the summer and sell
tickets at some of the local events. We sure could use some
volunteers for 2 or 3 hour shifts to sell tickets. Let us know if
you are interested.
Congratulations to Larry Koob of Oquossoc Marine. Larry was
awarded “Maine Snowmobile Dealer of the Year” by the Maine Snowmobile
Association at the annual awards banquet. An award that was certainly
well deserved!
In a previous newsletter I mentioned that we were looking for
land to build a clubhouse. The club, represented by President, Clark
Allen and Vice-President, Don Dumont, approached the Town of Rangeley
and asked the Town to consider donating a piece of land on Loon Lake
Road for the purpose of building a groomer barn and a clubhouse.
This request will be an article in the Town’s warrant and will be
voted on at Town Meeting in June. Keep your fingers crossed! If
we are successful in obtaining this land, we will begin fundraising
immediately.
Mike Ferguson of Rev-It-Up Sports has announced that he is
not interested in grooming for the club in the future. We are in the
negotiating process with grooming equipment suppliers to obtain
another groomer to take care of District 1.
Watch the web page for news on the land for a clubhouse and
groomer barn and the purchase of additional grooming equipment. News
will be posted on the web page as these things happen.
Hope to see you this summer in Rangeley. We can be reached
through the web page or by mail. We’re always open for new
fundraising ideas and certainly would welcome volunteers to help out
with our events.
Have a safe and happy summer!!!!
Until September..........
Please
visit our Sponsors page to check out businesses who have donated
or pledged to donate to our grooming and
trail maintenance program for this season. Be sure
to patronize these businesses when in the area. It is due to their donations that we have the great riding conditions we
all enjoy!
